CAPITOL COMMISSION KANSAS
Thank you for visiting our Kansas ministry website. God bless you for your concern for government leaders at the national, state, and local level.
This ministry puts a full-time pastor in the Capitol. Our goal is three-fold: 1). We evangelize your leaders (Colossians 4:5-6). The Scriptures tell us to be wise in our interactions, being gracious, sensible and ready with the right answer. 2). We help them become established in the faith, discipling them (Matthew 28: 18-20). Jesus gives this command based on His authority in heaven and earth. 3). And we equip these leaders to live as salt and light in a very high profile environment.
Last year, we taught Bible studies in the Capitol during session. Our Wednesday morning class was attended by over 50 leaders (12 to 24 at each meeting). Our Wednesday noon class was for staff and guests. We hand delivered printed Bible study notes to each office in the Capitol, including the Governor, Supreme Court Justices, Secretary of State, Treasurer, and others. Over 400 officials and staff had the Word of God delivered to their desks. Between legislative sessions, we sent periodic Bible studies by email to our Senators and Representative. We travel the State, meeting one-on-one or in small groups with many of them. These studies took us through Colossians and transitioned to Proverbs. We will continue in our teaching series on wisdom during the 2010 year.
We seek to reach out to pastors and churches in this focus of the great commission. Local churches can partner with us to establish ministries and Bible studies in municipalities across the state. There are over 10,000 elected leaders and their staff in our Kansas cities and counties. The Scriptures admonish us to pray for and make disciples among leaders at every level of government. Please pray about what role you can have in this mission.
