Hope is something to stand on, not just wish about.

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

Paul wrote Romans in 54 A.D. from Corinth. He proclaimed “hope” in the chapters that precede Romans 15.

Paul learned of hope as Saul, the zealous religious Pharisee, who strove to do religious acts to somehow obtain God’s righteousness and favor with God. The Bible records his dramatic Damascus Road Conversion where he saw and communicated with the ascended Christ in Acts 9. This deeply religious man found out that religious works cannot bring reconciliation with God. He found hope by believing in the very person and work of Jesus on that Damascus Road. When Saul placed his trust in Jesus, he was forgiven and received the only perfect righteousness that God accepts, the righteousness of His Son on our account.

God's hope is for everyone, no matter how sinful. This reconciliation with God can be received by faith, trusting in the work Jesus has done. What good news- what hope!

Saul took upon himself his Greek name, Paul, to open the door for him to proclaim this good news to the Gentile leaders of the Roman Empire.

Capitol Commission follows Paul's strategy to make Jesus known to leaders.

The 20th century founder of the National Prayer Breakfast, Abraham Vereide, also part of our embryonic root, realized like Paul, that a unique approach was required to reach political leaders. He realized it must be non denominational. It must be focused on building relationships presenting the solid doctrine of the gospel. It must teach and disciple with Bible study. This bold proclamation of the Word and the good news in a non-political, non-denominational approach is the strategy he employed and we employ.1

Capitol Commission is sent by the church with an emphasis to reach and disciple our legislative leaders.

God has His hand on Capitol Commission. We boldly seek His face and continue the quest in 2019!

Thank you for partnering with us in prayer and financial support. I give glory to God for you who have taken up the mantle of proclaiming hope! I pray as the Apostle Paul, “that the Lord would bear fruit to your account.”

Pray fervently with me as this work is hard. Three new state capitols stand open today needing the right man to be their missionary pastor. Would you ask God for these?

Every dollar given at this end of the year will be doubled in a match gift up to $10,000. These funds will greatly help us in 2019. We desire to bring this hope to some of the darkest political venues and by God’s enablement it will happen.

Hallelujah! God is the God of Hope! What great news heading into 2019!

Happy New Year!
