Welcome

Welcome to Capitol Commission Pennsylvania!

As a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, one becomes aware of the diversity that exists within our state. We are made up of a variety of people with differing perspectives. While our diversity is one of the things that makes our state great, it can also cause challenges for those who seek to serve and govern its people. In addition, the growing sentiment toward our elected officials in today’s age is increasingly negative.

Thus, the reality of being a Christian legislator is not without its challenges. Yet, there are men and women at our State Capitol that meet for in-depth Bible study and fellowship. In this difficult environment, these Christian legislators seek to live in a Christ-like manner. They have come to Harrisburg seeking to serve the public as they strive to make godly decisions in the discharge of their duties.

Our goal for this ministry continues to be the intentional development of disciples and disciplers of Jesus Christ in the political arena.

We seek to do this via,

1.) The Ministry of the Word: Along with the Bible Studies we offer at the Capitol, we also seek to meet personally with our government leaders to share God’s word, pray with them, and provide any Biblical mentoring needed. Through this ministry, the Good News is made know to every state leader, regardless of party affiliation.

2.) The Prayers of the Saints: Paul charges every Christian in 2 Timothy 2:1-4 to be in prayer for their rulers and all those in authority. Our desire is to encourage and mobilize the local church to engage in a ministry to those in the political arena through the faithful prayers of the saints.

3.) A Servant’s Heart: In an environment that is utilitarian by nature, we go as servants of Jesus, seeking to minister to the spiritual needs of those at the Capitol (Mark 10:45). In this, we believe the Gospel can be heard without hindrance as we strive to empty ourselves for those we serve.

Thank you for supporting this important work. This is a “by-faith” ministry and is supported entirely by contributions made by individuals and local churches. I hope you will consider partnering with us in this way.

Jeff Whitebread

Jeff Whitebread was born in the small town of Berwick in NE Pennsylvania. He grew up in a Christian home that provided him with a solid biblical foundation. During his first job as a draftsman in Allentown, God redirected the course of Jeff’s life through a pastor who awakened a new passion for the Word of God and a desire to advance God’s kingdom through making disciples.

Jeff joined Capitol Commission following years working in the secular workforce as an IT professional. He was a member of the team that planted a church in NE Philadelphia, and served in various ministry roles over the last 20 years seeking to equip those in the church employing an intentional-discipling model.

Jeff is a graduate Lincoln Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in 1986. He attended Philadelphia Biblical University as a member of their degree completion program in 2009, and is working toward his Bachelors Degree in Bible and Christian Leadership.

Jeff also has completed the Renovare Insitute, a two-year program for Christian Spiritual Formation in 2018. In addition, he partnered with Dallas Willard Ministries to make available Dallas’ writings on business in the booklet, “Called to Business: God’s way of loving people through business and the professions” in 2019.

Jeff Whitebread and his wife Ishbell live in Bryn Mawr, PA and will be celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary in 2021. They are blessed to have three adult children, Jacob (24 yrs), Bradley (22 yrs) and Baylee (18 yrs).
