THE KINGDOM'S ADVANCE IS LIKENED TO THE ADVANCE OF AN INCOMING TIDE
Blessings upon all of you who have been praying for our ministry here in PA. God grant you favor and an increase in your own ministry endeavors wherever you are in His vineyard.
Soon and very soon, our Fall Legislative Session will begin, along with our first Bible study on 9/27. In that study, our focus will be on Luke 2:1-14 and I have entitled our study: "A Serendipitous Event? No!"
As mentioned in our last update, I am eager to seek a focus on Equipping vs. Encouraging. But, I realize, yea, recognize the challenge of change, hence my call for prayer.
Here is a bit of food for thought about The Kingdom’s Advance:
The prophets predicted the appearance and demise of specific kingdoms, empires: Babylonian, Medio-Persian, Grecian, and finally the Roman via Daniel’s dreams/visions.
Through the course of history we have seen the fulfillment of this promise.
We have seen the installation and grounding of the fifth and final kingdom, the kingdom of God in human history.
We recognized the historicity of its establishment when Paul the apostle pens his epistle to the church at Rome. The stone cut out without hands (the foundation laid by the Lord Jesus) has smashed the final temporal kingdom/empire in Daniel’s vision and the kingdom of God has been established.
We see through biblical eyes. Humanly speaking the Roman Empire continues til AD 476+/- but throughout all those days the kingdom of God continued to advance.
But, how do we see its advance? It is not my might nor by power (Zech. 4:6), but by persuasion in contrast with every other human kingdom enterprise. If it advances by persuasion its progress will be by fits and starts. Persuasion is the leaven in the lump of dough.
Such being the reality, let me suggest the kingdom’s advance is likened to the advance of an incoming tide. While the tide in coming in, any particular wave is acceding or receding. The state of any particular wave, in and of itself, is not thereby indicative of the tide’s status. When the final acceding wave reaches its furthest extent we can then say, “The Tide Is In”.
Let me also suggest a biblical comparison. The full extent of the TIDE will be the fulfillment of Isaiah 11:9 and Habakkuk 2:14. The status of a particular wave represents the impact of the kingdom on a particular stage in human history. The receding wave indicates the kingdom’s lessened influence. The acceding wave the kingdom’s advance.
Pragmatically, we can chart the advances of the kingdom, and the corresponding eras of decline. But, without doubt, irrespective of all the horrors of human history, the kingdom is advancing. Granted, we have a long, long way to go: but, God has not set a time frame on this advance, save to assure us of its ultimate success.
As believers, our focus is on the inevitably of the kingdom’s advance (Isaiah 11:9 & Habakkuk 2:14) and not on our personal/particular generational gains or losses. Our personal objective is to serve our generation by the will of God, knowing He is in charge of the Tide! Whether we find ourselves on an advancing or receding wave our obligation remains the same: Micah 6:8.
As a former ministry associate used to remind us: “The future is as bright as the promises of God”.
As you labor remember to keep tough, tender, and teachable for Jesus’ sake and the kingdom’s advance.
