How important are our prayers for our government leaders? Does God grant that the prayers of His people have greater power than even the influence of a wicked leader of their country? On King Saul’s Coronation Day the prophet Samuel made an incredible commitment in prayer for his people and his king when he said, “God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider what great things He has done for you” (1 Samuel 12:23-24). Though King Saul continually increased in wickedness, Samuel had greater influence upon the nation of Israel through prayer. Samuel celebrates the greatest Passover Feasts in worship to the Lord (2 Chron. 35:18) and though King Saul is constantly trying to kill David, none of the people in Israel follow his leadership and ever attack David. Prayer Bible study notes are enclosed.
We thank the Lord for the opportunity provided by our new Speaker of the House, Kirk Cox, to begin our Governor’s Inauguration with prayer before the House of Delegates. You can access it on YouTube as
“Pray at VA Capitol” or: Click on this video link..
These two photos include the prayer as well as a Bible study at the new General Assembly Building, moved from where we had been the last 15 years.
Please pray for our Bible studies and for our leaders that the Lord will do a life-changing work in their hearts this year.
We appreciate the help of Dr. David Sexton teaching the first Bible study so that I was able to finish my dissertation on 1/15/18. And thank you so much for your prayers and support for us in the midst of this exciting and intense project.
Rejoicing in His grace,
