Ministry Report from the ALEC Conference

I wanted to report to you how my trip to the American Legislative Exchange Council Conference went. The folks I have been ministering with have been exhibitors at the ALEC Conference for as long as I can remember. The main purpose for all of us doing this, is ministry expansion. This conference provides an opportunity for our organization to share the ministry with legislators and lobbyists from around America. We have a map displaying which states we are currently ministering in, and which states we are not yet serving, but hope to serve one day. When we meet legislators who would like us in their states, we build more contacts, so that when the time is right, and the right person is in place, we launch a new ministry in another state.

This was the first time I have attended the ALEC Conference, and I really enjoyed it. It gave me an opportunity to get spend time with the President of our organization, Jim Young, and room with the state director from Illinois, Shaun Lewis, it also gave me an opportunity to better know our state director from Texas, Don Garner, and meet his wonderful family. Additionally, attending this conference provided an opportunity to not only meet with legislators and lobbyists from around the country, but those from Arkansas, and to share a meal, and hear how they are doing.

Here is one encouraging story. I have an Arkansas Capitol coffee mug, and most mornings, when I am at home, I can be found with said coffee cup in hand. I use this cup to remind me to pray for my political leaders, and especially for personal prayers, and ones that might take some time. There was one political leader who shared a personal prayer request with me that I had been praying for, for several years. I asked this leader about this particular request, and they told me with a smile, that God had answered in the affirmative. This made my day, and hopefully their day too, as they understood that I had been praying daily on their behalf, for years.

Overall, I think this trip was worth it. It enlarged my perspective. It allowed me to serve national expansion efforts, and build deeper relationships within our organization, and with political leaders around America, and hear how they are doing and hear about their heart and passion for their state and our nation. In the news we often hear of all the bad things going on in politics, but one of the things I like about my job, is I also get to meet political leaders who do not regularly make the news, at least not for bad reasons, but love and serve their country and state faithfully.

Thank you for your prayer, and for all of your support!

May God richly bless you and your family,

Jason Palermo
