January 1, 2013

I just wanted to wish you and yours a very Happy New Year, and encourage you to keep the faith in 2013! By keeping the faith I mean keep your faith in God alive and refreshed daily in the One from Whom ALL blessings, and encouragements flow.

I encourage you, if you have not already made it a practice, and a very high priority in 2012, to DAILY draw near to God through Bible reading and prayer. Make a fresh start and COMMIT yourself to God in 2013. Try to be CONSISTENT for at least 30 days, and a new habit will be established. There is much discouraging news all around us every day, especially in politics. Life is busy, our hearts are prone to wander, our love can easily grow cold, and before we know it, we feel distant from God. It does not need to be that way.

My encouragement is to throw off EVERY entanglement of sin, which makes us so ineffective in our service to God. Ask God to reveal ANY areas of spiritual compromise, or shortfall. If there is ANY area in your life where you feel you need to resist the devil, and draw near to God, then do it! God is merciful.

Remember the story of the prodigal son? The father girded up his loins and ran out to meet his son, and then he joyfully embraced him, he killed the fatted calf, and then threw a great celebration for his son, who had returned to him. God truly rejoices over EVERY sinner who repents, and you know, ALL of us are sinners. We DAILY need much in the way of God's grace, mercy, encouragement, kindness, and repentance. Go DAILY to the One Who loves your soul more than ANY other in 2013.

If you are not already FILLED with joy, God will restore to you the joy of your salvation and free you for greater service to Him in 2013. If there is any way Jen or I can be of encouragement to you in this area, let us know, as we too want to be useful to our Master.

Make 2013 a year of rejoicing in the God of your salvation, and REMEMBER to PRAY for our political leaders. They need prayer at least as much we do.

In Christ,
