It was wonderful to see over 225 people at our Election-Eve Prayer Walk on November 5th. Many told me how much it meant to them. Thirty-five friends graciously served in various ways – setup, welcoming, check-in, food service, security, and leading-in-prayer around the California State Capitol. Prayer Leads included a former State Senator, an attorney for an influential lobbying group, a legislative staff member, and statewide ministry and prayer leaders. Chick-fil-A in Sacramento donated delicious chicken sandwiches (be sure to thank their manager if you eat there sometime). A professional photographer named Brian Long blessed us with some excellent photos. (You may download them for free to share them with others using the password "prayerworks.") These and other photos are also on our Facebook page.
One of the most frequent comments I heard throughout the evening was “I can’t believe we have the freedom to pray like this around the Capitol!” I agree, and I am even more thankful that I have the freedom to reach out weekly inside the so-called “belly of the beast." This is a precious opportunity for us that believers in many other countries could only imagine. It may not last forever, and we dare not waste it while we still have the chance.
Last week’s election reminds us that the only real hope for our nation is the Good News of Jesus - not political parties and polling. Psalm 146:3-5 "Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. ... How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God."
With that in mind, thank you very much for your support in His name that enables this work to continue and to advance. It is much appreciated. The fact is though, contributions have been surprisingly lower than expected so far this year, which has me questioning what we will be able to do next year. Please join us in praying for significantly increased provision so that we can move forward through the exciting doors God is opening.
