WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?
As we wrap up Thanksgiving week, we are all reminded that we have so very much to be thankful for.
I am most thankful for the salvation and everlasting hope that is ours through Jesus Christ. I first received that gift from God as a lonely 15-year old kid, and I have been so appreciative every day since. Isn't it good to know that this connection with God is available to everyone who desires it?
I am also extremely grateful for my family. My wife and I are in the middle of our 26th year of marriage and I still love her dearly. Our children are both transitioning into adulthood, which is for me amazing, exciting, and a tiny bit frightening all at the same time. (The picture below is us celebrating at their recent birthday lunch. Yep, same birthday, just two years apart. And nope, we didn't plan that!)
I also rejoice that God has given me the privilege and opportunity to share his Good News and help people to know Him and understand His will for their lives as I teach His Word. There is nothing I enjoy more.
Most of us who serve with Capitol Commission met for our annual gathering again recently, this time in the magnificent Georgia State Capitol. (There's a photo below of me standing above the GA legislature floor.) It was encouraging to spend time with these friends who serve as pastors/missionaries in capitols around the U.S.. Every state is a little different (some might say we in California are a LOT different), but we are all united in a common mission to declare God’s praises to our government leaders.
Finally, I am also thankful for YOU! This email is going out to many people, but each one of you who receive it matters. Knowing that we have friends like you who care about us and/or our work means so much to me.
Please contact me anytime for a personal ministry update or if I can be of any encouragement to you.
I'd also love to hear what you're thankful for!
