This week, I hand-delivered a copy of a Christ-centered apologetics book called More Than A Carpenter to all 120 California State Legislators and their Chiefs-of-Staff. An Assembly Member heard about my plan to do this and wrote a personal check to cover the cost of the books! Please join me in praying that some will read this book over the coming Easter week, and that the Lord will draw them to Him through it.
Our first Capitol Movie Night was encouraging. We showed the film Courageous inside the Capitol to staff members and received many positive comments.
I recently invited two local pastors to join me at the Capitol. Pastor Robert Briggs of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sacramento taught at our Staff and Lobbyists Bible Study and proclaimed a powerful, biblically-based, message that was very meaningful to believers in the Capitol. It was a joy to have lunch with him afterwards also and hear his heart for the Gospel and for Sacramento.
The next day, Pastor Francis Anfuso of the Rock Church in Roseville joined me at both Legislators’ Bible Studies. I have never invited another pastor to participate in the Legislators' gatherings, due to the importance of confidentiality, but I made an exception in this case due to Francis' unique background. He is the son of an influential congressman from the Kennedy era, and he shared from his personal experience about the struggles political leaders and their families deal with. The Lord was moving as some legislators had tears running down their cheeks as we prayed together. After spending the day together at the Capitol, Pastor Francis posted this kind endorsement on our Facebook page:
“I so appreciate the ministry of Pastor Frank Erb in encouraging State legislators and staff in their God-given stewardships to represent Him well. I was amazed all day long at the impact he is having on so many. Everywhere we went he encouraged people. He is known, respected and received. Please keep Pastor Frank and our 120 legislators in the Assembly and Senate in your prayers. We so need a move of God in the church, culture, and government."
What will God do through our efforts? Let’s pray and see. I taught through Matthew 14 in the Capitol this past week, which includes Christ's miracle of the loaves and the fish (Matthew 14:15-21). As demonstrated in that amazing event, our Lord may do far more than we could ever ask or think through our limited offering. Our responsibility and command is to stay faithful in service and prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-4). Thank you for joining me in this!
Finally, I greatly appreciate your financial partnership. Our support has been stretched so far this year as many struggle with economic challenges. I appreciate your continued prayers for this, as we trust Him to provide for all the work He wants done.
Your Missionary to the State Capitol,
California State Director
P.S. I have been asked to speak at the "Auburn & Colfax Mayors' Prayer Breakfast" on April 26th. If you live in the greater Sacramento foothills area it would be great to see you there! RSVP info may be found here.
