The ministry to California's leaders is off to a quick start in 2015, and I've been rushing to keep up with it.
One-third of the State Legislators are brand new this year, just two-years after another third were newly elected. These new Senators and Assembly Members bring with them many new staff as well. This means a lot of energy in the State Capitol. It is also an ongoing challenge for me to get to know so many new and busy people.
I started off the year distributing a Legislators' Bible Study Invitation Letter listing endorsements from 19 state Legislators and Constitutional Officers to introduce the ministry to new members.
I was interviewed on the Power of Prayer radio/internet program from Bakersfield.
Then, to my surprise, the Los Angeles Times printed a FRONT-PAGE STORY about us. I was encouraged that it was such a positive article and am hoping it opens some new doors for ministry in the Capitol community. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.
I’m continuing to teach three Bible Studies each week in the Capitol – two for legislators and a third for staff & lobbyists. These are going well and some first-time legislators have already become regular participants. So far this year I've been teaching about the importance of knowing, following, and sharing the Word of God. I’ve also been visiting all legislative offices and meeting with many leaders for one-on-one pastoral outreach, prayer, counseling, or encouragement. Though details of what is discussed in these meetings must remain confidential, for obvious reasons, please continue to pray and be encouraged that the Lord is at work.
Thank you for your prayers and partnership! We are in this together, and your support is needed and very much appreciated!
