It is official, the 2022 General Assembly has concluded. Barring the governor calling a special session, the legislators are done until next year. What follows is both the primary and general elections which now occupies much of our elected official’s attention. Several have announced their retirement and let us pray for them and those who will be elected in their absence.

The conclusion of session requires an adjustment to the ministry. Although legislators will return to Frankfort occasionally, the primary focus of Capitol Commission will be toward staff. Since the first of the year, I have been teaching a Bible study for staff on Wednesdays. We have been exploring the Gospel of John, chapter-by-chapter, and will be concluding our study soon. My goal is to increase this Bible Study in both numbers and opportunities.

In this effort to reach the capitol community, we are embarking on a six-month program to reach every staff member. On the first Wednesday of each month, we will be feeding the staff (one floor at a time) beginning with the fourth floor. There are over 400 employees between the Capitol and the Annex and by the end of the year, Capitol Commission hopes to have a significant encounter with each of them.

Each outreach will involve food, a Capitol Commission gospel track, information about the Bible Study, as well as any other pertinent information regarding the ministry. My hope is to get to know every employee and share with them the hope of Jesus. Please pray for this outreach and its success.

In preparation, I am hoping to partner with churches and ministries who can feed a few dozen employees. I still have three dates open and need volunteers to provide food and to help interact with staff. If you are interested in partnering with me in this effort, please contact me.
