“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” (James 1:2, 3)
I’m sorry that I haven’t kept you up-to-date on the ministry very well this year. Most of you know that after suffering a near-fatal infection, part of my right leg had to be amputated in June. It was during this time that I praise the Lord that I belong to such a great team like Capitol Commission. Not only did I have faithful friends praying for me all over the nation, but they were sharing my story with thousands of other friends. God heard these many prayers and He chose to keep me around while graciously sustaining my family. When the next legislative session starts in Annapolis in January, I plan to be walking the halls again (with a new leg) to continue ministering to the General Assembly there.
It may be that you were a part of this prayer effort or you shared with my family financially. I want to thank you for thinking of us as the Lord brought us through some very trying days. What a blessing to see the body of Christ holding up a weaker member. How humbling to be the weak member.
One of the great blessings this summer was hearing from concerned friends in the political community in Annapolis. Their care for Tracy and me was generous and it warmed our hearts that those we are called to reach were reaching out to us. It just proved that staying faithful to the work in Maryland and loving on these special folks has resulted in precious relationships already. Please keep praying for them as we stay in contact by phone and email for the time being and see them in person soon.
God is faithful and is always good. It’s exciting to anticipate how He will use our trials this year to open new doors to share His love in the future. Thank you for staying with us through all of life’s changes and for praying for our ministry. We appreciate you so much!
