December 10, 2013
In our most recent update, I asked you to pray for several events that were coming up in October and November. It was a praise that God was allowing more to be put on the calendar and we were looking forward to six weeks of busy, but encouraging ministry.
Then my gall bladder spoke up. That was near the beginning of all the six-week activity, but after some emergency surgery to remove the unhappy organ, I’m glad to report that I still was able to take part in all but one of the events on the calendar. In fact, the Sunday after the Monday surgery, Tracy and I were on a plane to Colorado Springs for the annual Gathering for Capitol Commission state ministers, board and wives. What a sweet time we had (which we always do when we get together).
After returning, we spoke at the Missions Conference for our friends at Wakefield Valley Bible Church in New Windsor, MD. Pastor Mark and Debbie Jones have been dear friends for years and we enjoyed the warm fellowship and missions heart of their church over that weekend.
The next weekend, I was in the pulpit at one of our supporting churches, Central Chapel, in Hedgesville, West Virginia. The pastor, my brother Greg, was on a missions trip teaching in the Philippines when the typhoon came through. That’s a story for another time, but God protected them!
The week after that was the Parliament and Faith Global Conference in Washington, D.C. planned by our friend from Argentina, Luciano Bongarra. I led one of the breakout sessions (on “God’s Testing in Ministry”), met many new friends from other countries and saw a few of my Capitol Commission colleagues who were also participating. Ministry to the political community is spreading around the world and it’s exciting to be a part of it.
As 2013 ends, our hearts are grateful for friends like you who keep up with our ministry and pray for us. We are anticipating some exciting things in the year to come and partnering with you for the gospel’s sake is at the top of the list. Look for more news of our progress in upcoming updates. God bless you and your family during this Christmas season!
