March 19, 2012
Thank you for praying for our 2012 Pastors’ and Partners’ Commission to the Capitol. We had a great turnout with many opportunities for fellowship and sharing. Delegate Justin Ready gave us all an accurate picture of what legislators go through and how we can pray for them. Bob Lewis, formerly the Capitol Commission State Director in Pennsylvania and who will head up the launch of Capitol Commission Delaware, brought an engaging message on the importance of discipleship. I was especially encouraged to see several new faces who learned about our work for the first time. May we see these new friendships deepen in the future.
Tracy and I also enjoyed participating in the Missions Festival at our sending church, Independent Bible Church in Martinsburg, West Virginia. We shared in two adult classes, a senior saints’ group, a home meeting, two AWANA classes (elementary ages) and a concert of prayer during the week. What a blessing to have the support of a missions-minded church and the prayers of such good friends.
I hope you will pray with me for this crucial request. Today, I’m starting to write the Bible study notes for the next two weeks based on James 2:14-26. This passage teaches the relationship between faith and works. The reason I’m burdened and asking for prayer is because there will be many Catholic friends who will read these notes. Also, I have a Jewish friend who comes to our studies. The Scriptures are clear that we are not saved by works, yet so many people believe that’s how to satisfy God and meet his requirements. I really believe the studies we cover this week and next week are among the most important to date in our ministry in Annapolis. Please pray that I will write and teach what is right and for those who read the notes or attend the Bible studies on March 20 and 27.
Thanks for reading these updates and for praying!
