January 11, 2017
Today, January 11, marked the first day of the 2017 Session of the Maryland Legislature. For the next 90 days, more than 2,000 bills will be introduced and considered by the 188 members of the House and the Senate. And again, Capitol Commission will be there in Annapolis to bring the Word of God and ministry of encouragement and prayer to the folks who serve in the capitol community.
We praise the Lord for all of you who support our work. Our monthly donors give faithfully and generous end-of-the-year contributors help to make our efforts possible. Together, we all advance the cause of the gospel and we’re so glad to serve with you.
In the coming months, here are some things to pray about:
- Our weekly Bible studies will be held in the House Office Building on Thursdays throughout the session. This year we will be studying the book of Titus, which will give us the chance to discuss topics such as God’s promises for the future, the importance of mentoring, how to be saved, and the right view of good works. Pray for understanding hearts!
- Speaking of praying, I will be opening the Senate in prayer on Thursday, January 19, at 10:00 a.m.
- The tentative date for this year’s Pastors’ and Partners’ Commission to the Capitol will be March 30, so mark your calendar and look for more info soon!
For any of this to have effectiveness, God’s people must pray, so I’m asking that you join Tracy and me in seeking the Lord’s will and favor during this ministry year. As always, if there are requests you have for prayer, please send them our way!
