  2015………..For Such A Time As This

“And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

As we embark on a new year, it is beneficial to both reflect upon what God has done in us and through us in 2014 and prayerfully consider how He desires to grow us in 2015 to impact the world for His Kingdom.

Will you join me in passionately pursuing Christ to the best of your abilities? Will you daily lean not on your own understanding, but on His, and trust Him to continue to lead and guide your every step in the way He would have you go (Proverbs 3:5-6)? Rest assured, as you spend time alone with Him meditating on His Word, He will meet with you.  The Holy Spirit will plant His desires in your heart.  He will grow you, encourage you, challenge you and motivate you to launch out as His ambassador to your community this year.

Is your community ready to receive the Good News?

The following verses describe the communities Jesus visited:

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Matthew 9:35-38)

Think about the community in which you live. I think you will discover that the same words used here to describe the people in Jesus’ day could be used to describe the people in your communities as well:

harassed: weary, distressed, confused, troubled, bewildered, perplexed, disturbed

Life gets very demanding doesn’t it?  We experience demands from our workplace, families, friends and society in general. School activities, clubs and hobbies can become overly demanding. Pressures seem to come from every corner without a place of refuge.

helpless: downcast, dejected, dependent, paralyzed, powerless, dispirited, friendless

Do you know people who are just plain tired and lonely? Life in the fast lane is taking it’s toll and they are about to throw in the towel and try anything for a change.  Often they are overworked and underpaid. Whatever the case, for many, there are more bills at the end of the month than there are funds to pay them.

sheep without a shepherd: directionless, not knowing what to do, where to go, or right from wrong, prone to wander

Do you encounter people that seem to be wandering aimlessly about without any clear direction?  Do you know people who seem to be just going through the motions of life, seemingly on a treadmill and not knowing how to hop off?

Maybe, just maybe, one of these descriptions describes you….weary or troubled, dejected, directionless or friendless.  If so, Jesus promises rest, guidance and friendship. Go to Him now (Matt 11:28).

In obedience to God’s Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit, what steps will you take this year to advance His Kingdom?

I invite you to join me in 2015 by committing to this life changing 3-Step Plan which includes:

Step #1 - The Great Commitment - PRAYING for the salvation of the unbelievers in your sphere of influence (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

Step #2 - The Great Commandment - LOVING your neighbor by caring for them with acts of kindness (Mark 12:28-34).

Step #3 - The Great Commission - SHARING the Good News of Jesus Christ as God’s love opens their hearts (Mark 16:15; 1 Peter 3:15).

We are called to live our lives set on eternity.  Mature believers do not hold tightly to the things of this world.  They choose commitment over comfort knowing that one life will soon be past, and only what’s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,

In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;

Faithful and true what e’er the strife,

Pleasing Thee in my daily life;

Only one life, 'twill soon be past,

Only what's done for Christ will last.

Prayer of Commitment

Lord God, I pray that those who do not have a personal relationship with You will invite You into their hearts this year. Use me as a channel of Your love to draw them to Yourself.  In Your providence, arrange divine appointments for me to share my faith with them.  I commit to pray for them, care for them and share my faith in You with them.

If you prayed this prayer and/or desire to follow this 3-Step Plan for 2015, please let me know so I can be praying for you.
