Stand with Capitol Commission in the Gap!
"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me in the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none" Ezekiel 22:30.
God was looking for a man to stand in the gap. The context defines the gap as men who would speak the truth, expose evil and within their circles of influence make impact for righteousness. This passage conveys a similar idea found in Genesis 18, where Abraham interceded for Sodom. He pleaded with God in verse 32, "Lord be not angry, if there be ten [righteous, would you spare the city?]...[the Lord replied] For the sake of ten I will not destroy it."
As you and I look at America's present condition and standing with God, you might be asking what will save this country from God's judgment? I answer that with the scripture above. It will be stand-in-the-gap men and women.
Perhaps the greatest spiritual battle going on in America today is in the minds of our leaders. What will keep our leaders strong and courageous to do what is right? What will mean more to them than money or power?
I answer that with the convictions formed by being in the Word of God. Right now, Capitol Commission is standing in the gap, ministering to our leaders the truth of God's Word. Our vision is to reach and disciple our nations' leaders. Can you think of a more important work or a more urgent time for this work?
Our qualified, vetted and trained ministers are proclaiming hope and truth in the turmoil of our political day. They are meeting with legislators and giving them crisis discipleship. For the most part, their work is one-on-one with our nations' leaders. Several are teaching seminars on what the Bible says about ethics, sexual harassment, and other topics.
I hear this reverberating medley of testimony by many State Legislators, "In the crises of my life and the pressures of this time, I thank God for our Capitol Commission State Minister! The personal one-on-one time ...has challenged me with the Word of God to examine my own heart and life....through the counsel of my State Minister I have come to a place of repentance and a closer trust in the Sovereign God."
How important is this ministry? It is carrying out the very commission, "Go, make disciples!"
Four of our states, and most recently Kentucky and Tennessee, held special focus days in their Capitols. Ancient Bible scrolls were exhibited in eleven museum quality showcases. The display of these scrolls and short seminars given by qualified scriptural text experts reveal the historical credibility of the Scriptures to hundreds on sight and thousands through the media of radio, television and social media. Legislators from these states and the public they serve witnessed how God used scribes to preserve His truth through the generations. What a reminder that the Bible is not just a dusty old book, but is "God- breathed [given by divine inspiration]" 2 Timothy 3:16, "sufficient for life and godliness" 2 Peter 1:3 and speaks authoritatively to the concerns of today.
How important to our nation is this reminder?
God is opening doors in Arizona, Alabama and Michigan right now and I ask that you pray for God's man in each of these states. More than that, I ask that you stand in the gap with Capitol Commission. Traveling, training and speaking in these areas requires financial resources that are beyond our means. We have budgeted expansion by faith, claiming 2 Corinthians 9:8, "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."
Last week, I went to D.C. for the purpose of meeting with Congressional Legislators and finding like-minded State Legislators who would assist Capitol Commission in moving through open doors.
The work of Capitol Commission is so critical to America. Praise to the Lord, God has placed State Ministers in 23 Capitols. I believe that God wants ministers in all of them. Would you help us stand in the gap?
For His Glory
