REMEMBER - God's Idea!

Memory and remembering is God’s gifts. Our intelligent creator designed our brains to hold pictures of the past. Throughout God’s Word, the word "remember" occurs 148 times in the King James Version. This does not include statements like “Thy Word have I hid in my heart…” or “bind them on the tablets of your heart….” God wants you and me to remember!

On Monday, many will stand in cemeteries and view grave stones. In a multi-acre cemetery in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, several will gather and view the tombstone of my father who fought front lines in World War II. In that cemetery I have many in my family tree who have fought in wars. My grandfather fought in World War I and distant cousins battled on both sides of the Civil War. Remember.

President Ronald Reagan, on Memorial Day in 1986, stood at Arlington National Cemetery and stated, "Today is the day we put aside to remember our fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. It’s a day of thanks for the valor of others, a day to remember the splendor of America and those of her children who rest in this cemetery and others. It’s a day to be with family and remember.”

This weekend, remember and give honor to the thousands of heroes who have given their lives for this nation. Teach your children and grandchildren about the sacrifice of our active military. Pray for their families and pray for the end of war. God asks us to pray for peace. There is coming a day, hallelujah, when swords and instruments of war will be re-purposed for farm and garden equipment. The Prince of Peace will bring in true peace.

Teach those around you of our nations’ heritage. Point out the testimony of God reliance found on the National Monuments in Washington D.C., throughout our US Capitol, at our Supreme Court, on our money, and in our pledge of allegiance.

American history reveals founding fathers who had a deep understanding of the gospel and a high literacy of God’s Word. That was the characteristic so responsible for the very foundation of our nation. Teach those around you how important trust and reliance on God’s Word and the Lord are to the hope for our nation's future. On this weekend of remembering, be bold to share our heritage and thank God for it.

Capitol Commission reminds of and builds on our heritage teaching and ministering in 23 Capitols and most recently in D.C. at April and May ministry events. We proclaim hope through the message of trusting God’s Word, reliance upon the Lord and boldly sharing the good news.

Think of the impact happening one-on-one and in Legislator Bible studies. Think of the consistent sowing of God’s Word which promises to not return void.

  • Legislator Bible studies mean that hundreds of our nations’ leaders each week are spending an hour in expositional Bible teaching.
  • Lives are being changed with the Word of God and prayer.
  • Recently, one of our State Ministers shared that the State Treasurer of his state invited him to launch a Bible study for anyone interested on his staff. The State Treasurer came to know Christ as a legislator a few years before because a Capitol Commission State Minister walked him through God’s Word an hour a week. His stated, “I never heard this before, I knew religion but not that you could have a personal relationship with God through Christ. My life is forever changed. Would you lead more studies here?”
  • So far this year, over 50,000 written Bible studies have been placed in legislative offices, hand delivered by our State Ministers.
  • As our State Ministers move office to office, countless times of brief relationship building, prayer, and sharing occur. This is the genius of presence.
  • Our mission is to expand to every Capitol in the world. But to do so, means faithfully expanding as God opens the door one step at a time.
    • Would you commit, right now especially, to pray for Michigan, Alabama, and Arizona? We are presently working hard in these states to launch a state minister. We need God’s person and added resources to launch State Ministers.
    • Would you pray for our vision to launch a full-time D.C. team as this ministry grows into a majority of our states.
    • Pray for our ministry at Legislator conferences this year. God has given us great opportunities to share Christ, teach the word of God and meet legislators from all across America.
Help us this summer to not miss a step going forward!
  • Share this ministry with the people around you. It is perhaps one of the best kept secrets around.
  • Show people Capitol Commission's prayer tool - Pray1tim2.org
    • This Capitol Commission tool teaches how to pray for your political leaders God’s way.
  •  Thank you for your prayers and meaningful support!
