In the midst of a busy legislative session, the ministry in the capitol community moves forward. We are encouraged by the participation at the Bible studies and the chapel services. The numerous speaking opportunities have been a blessing as well. With that said, no time is more valuable than the personal time spent with our state leaders talking and praying with them.

I receive regular updates from prayer warriors that pray regularly for our leaders in accordance with 1 Timothy 2:1-4. When I share this with the leaders, so many are very appreciative and recognize the great need for prayer. Please continue to pray that the Lord will grant them wisdom and discernment from above, and above all pray that our leaders will accept God’s free gift of salvation and yield their lives to Him.

Thursday, May 2 was the National Day of Prayer. Our event was held at the Bicentennial Mall between the Capitol Building and the Legislative Building. Many passersby joined the assembled crowd during the service of worship, singing, and particularly prayer for our state and nation. The General Assembly delayed the daily session in order to allow members to participate, and a good number of legislators and staff attended. Lt. Governor Dan Forest gave remarks, and he and well over a dozen legislators led in prayer as well as community pastors.

Also, we are delighted to announce our 2019 golf tournament: a Veterans Day Classic on Monday, 11/11 with tee off at 11 am (easy to remember). We will honor those who have served our country, but especially the Lord who died for our salvation! All interested (sponsors, golfers, volunteers) may contact me at Bert.Jones@capitolcom.org for more information. Please pray for this great opportunity for the gospel to go forward as we have a good time of fellowship, and that much needed sponsorship funds will come in to support the ministry.

Continuing thanks to all who serve alongside us in this ministry with your prayers and financial giving. Your part in this ministry is vital, and may you be blessed as together we serve the King of kings and Lord of lords!

To God be the glory!
