April 2021 Update
Jesus’ Work: Making Eternal Life Accessible
I'm excited to tell you that our Legislator Bible study has resumed at the Capitol. With the Capitol opening in mid-March it has been a joy to reconnect with the legislators I had been unable to see, as well as seeking to forge new relationships with those in the freshmen class.
In our Bible study, we are currently considering Jesus’ prayer in John 17 as he prepares to return to the Father. This prayer captures his thoughts and concerns as he considers his disciples. He speaks to the Father of completing his work, that of bringing eternal life to those given to him, but in leaving his disciples in this hostile environment that will put him to death, He prayerfully entrusts them into the Father’s care. With his arrest moments away, we find the emphasis of his ministry approach for his disciples is neither one of attack nor withdrawal, but for them to step into the world with a quality of life that speaks of heaven. That was true for his disciples then and remains true for his disciples today (click to read more).
2021 Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast Online Event
Senators Maria Collet & Kristin Phillips-Hill along with Representatives Stephanie Borowicz & Robert Merski invite you to attend this year’s Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast online with the theme: Value, Virtues, and Leadership. As we gather together for our annual prayer breakfast this year, you’ll need to bring your own breakfast as we will meet online. This will include several community and civic leaders around the state, leading us in a collective time of prayer.
Date: This Tuesday, May 4th, 2021
Time: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Our speaker Julie Bentz is a retired Major General of the United States Army. Much of her time on active duty was spent serving on three Presidents’ security councils at the White House working to reduce global threats from weapons of mass destruction. She has a Doctorate in Nuclear Engineering and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.
Support: For 2021 our monthly support goal will remain $4000/month. Throughout the first four months of the year, we have raised a total of $14,800 of our $16,000 goal for this time period. That leaves us $1,200 short of this goal. If you are able to help with this shortfall or would be interested in making a monthly commitment to support the work of our ministry, please click here for further instructions.
Prayer for Session Days: If you would like to explore the power of prayer at the Capitol please contact me. I will be working to implement a schedule to provide continuous prayer in one-hour blocks for the remaining session days. The dates include May 25th, 26th, and 27th and June 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th 25th 28th, 29th, and 30th with the daily coverage from 8am - 11 pm.
Vehicle: With our kids getting older, we find ourselves in need of an additional vehicle. At this point, we are looking to purchase a reliable minivan that could handle the commute from the Philly suburbs to Harrisburg on a consistent basis. If you have a similar vehicle that can accommodate tall people and you're willing to sell, please contact me.
As always, we are grateful for your continued encouragement, friendship, and support. As Paul says, I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel.
Your Servant for Jesus’ Sake,
