At Christmas we remember the wonder God did in fulfillment of His great promise to David the king: “And thy house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established forever” (2 Samuel 7:16). “For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the House of Israel” (Jer. 33:17). “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to order and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7). “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest and the Lord shall give unto Him the throne of his father David” (Luke 1:32).

David's greatest Son, Jesus Christ, is not only the King of Kings, but “God our Savior, Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (I Timothy 2:3-4) and in that same context we are exhorted to pray for our leaders: “I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, kings and all who are in authority” (I Timothy 2:1-2). Will you pray for the salvation of our leaders this Christmas and give thanks for them?

     Praises:

    • We are so thankful for the opportunity to preach in churches each weekend in the second half of the year and see such an wonderful response!
    • How exciting to be a vital part of a Prayer Revival here in our area that I believe is still bearing fruit in my own life and the lives of others!
    • We rejoice in the opportunity to visit legislators in Congress with the Study Bibles for another state this year.
    • We praise the Lord for the incredible opportunity to see the Capitols of Paul this last fall.
    • We rejoice that the publisher of my new book, Christ’s Kingdom Commission, has not only put it in electronic format but is now working on a workbook to go with it.
    • The Lord graciously blessed our Bible Studies this year and it was thrilling to disciple our leaders in the “knowledge of the truth” at each study for the first half of the year.
    • The Lord continues to use the MacArthur Study Bibles given to those in Congress to be an encouragement to our leaders.
    • It was such a blessing to hear from a Virginia leader and now others throughout the USA who have ordered a copy of Christ’s Kingdom Commission, and is teaching the strategic truths in it to their Sunday School classes!
    • We are thankful for the worldwide celebration of the birth of the King of Kings when we remember the goodness of God to us in sending His Son to become one of us in order to die for our sin so that we might have redemption.

    Prayer Requests:

    • That the Lord will use the Pastor’s Commission to the Capitol on January 22 to encourage our believing legislators in sharing God’s Word and grant His grace to many who are lost.
    • That God’s Word will “run and be glorified” through all the Bible Studies during Session.
    • That the Lord will graciously use the Study Bibles in Congress and our own state legislature to draw our legislators to Himself.
    • That the Lord will bless the new book, Christ’s Kingdom Commission, to make a strategic impact on our churches and our nation at this important time in our history.
    • That many grateful believers will use the VA Leadership Prayer List and sign up to pray for our leaders at pray1tim2.org during this season of celebrating Christmas. To sign up to pray for your leaders click here.

My friend Jim Young, who serves as the President of Capitol Commission, has written a National End-of-Year Letter highlighting the encouraging things going on across the United States through this ministry. You can view his letter here.
