Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
We often hear this as a reminder to focus on the real meaning of Christmas in the midst of all the busyness of the holiday season. With all the shopping, decorating, and attending of events and activities, it is easy to lose sight of what Christmas is all about.
Just as we are tempted to forget that Jesus is what Christmas is all about, if we are not careful we may forget that Jesus is what the whole Bible is all about. That has been the focus of our capitol Bible studies this year – seeing how Jesus and His work of redemption is the theme or message of the entirety of the scriptures.
We are concluding this series of lessons at this month’s interim committee meetings with a study entitled “The End of the Story”. In it we look at how God sending His Son at Bethlehem is indeed the “end” (the point or the purpose) of the story of the Scriptures. (You can download a copy of our study notes HERE).
Please pray for our study with will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 11 at the main capitol building. Pray that God will use His Word as the notes are distributed to every legislator and elected official in the capitol.
The Christmas season is just an example of what goes on at the capitol throughout the year. The hustle and bustle of politics can certainly district many who serve from what is truly important. The inner workings of the statehouse and the dealing with so many issues seldom make room for the good news of the Gospel. Pray for our ongoing ministry to challenge our leaders to remember that which has eternal significance.
As always, thank you for your prayer and support and have a wonderful Christmas.
