How do you reach the top in politics?

Our state’s highest leaders such as our governor, senate president, and speaker of the house can all look back to their first year serving in the West Virginia legislature. Certainly even back then they had aspirations to reach higher levels of leadership and influence. This year we have a higher than usual number of new lawmakers. We can be sure that many of them have a desire to reach the top in West Virginia politics. How does a lawmaker go from being a rookie legislator to the highest levels of leadership in our state?

Every believer has a goal that is much greater than the highest political positions in our state or even in our nation. That is the goal of becoming like Jesus Christ! I have little counsel to offer leaders who aspire to positions of leadership. However, God’s Word has much to say to believers who want to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

That is the topic of this week’s Bible studies in the West Virginia state capitol as we look at how the gospel changed the life of Philemon. You can download a copy of our most recent study here.

    • The legislators, leaders, lobbyists, and staff who serve in the capitol have great aspirations to higher positions of leadership and influence. Please pray that God will work in the hearts of many to turn to Christ and pursue that greatest goal – to be like Him.

Thank you for your prayer and support of our ministry.
