June 19, 2013
On Thursday, June 20 West Virginia observes its 150th birthday. There are celebrations and special activities planned all over the state. The legislature will be holding its monthly interim meetings in Wheeling in recognition of its distinction as our first state capitol. It is certainly appropriate and important to have such special occasions to help us remember pivotal events in our history.
God gave us a special observance to help us remember the most pivotal event in human history – the suffering and death of Christ on the cross. The Lord’s Supper is a vivid reminder of all that God has done for us through Christ. As the legislators are in Wheeling observing the celebration of the founding of our state, we will be holding a study entitled, “In Remembrance of Me…” which I pray will help them remember that greatest event all. You can view or download our study here.
Our study will be held on Thursday morning, June 20. In the midst of all the celebrations and activities, please pray that God will use the study to remind leaders of that which is truly and eternally important.
