"The People’s Business"
You often hear those involved in politics and government service refer to their work as “Going about the people’s business”. It is a reference to the desire to rightly represent their constituents and serve those who elected them to office.
It can be difficult for those involved in the challenges of the people’s business in the capitol to keep a focus on being about the Father’s business. While it is certainly important to stand for issues and fight for legislation that is honoring to God, we must remember that the Father’s business is first of all about redemption – providing the way for sinful people to be right with a holy God.
The title of this week’s Bible study in the West Virginia Capitol is “The People’s Business and the Father’s Business". In it we consider the wonderful, “diverse excellencies” demonstrated by Christ when He was found in the temple at the age of twelve. Even then He knew who He was and why God had sent Him. The Sovereign Son of God submitted Himself to His earthly parents. He explained His total commitment to be about His Father’s business.
- Pray this message will stir our affections to love, worship, and serve Christ better and to deepen our own commitment to be about our Father’s business.
- Pray for the study to be held on Thursday, January 30 at Noon.
- Pray as the notes are distributed to the legislators, elected officials, lobbyists, and staff throughout the West Virginia capitol.
