The focal point of our beautiful capitol building is the extraordinary chandelier which hangs over the rotunda.
Made of Czechoslovakian crystal and weighing two tons, the light hangs 179 feet, 9 inches from the floor. It measures eight feet in diameter and requires 96 light bulbs to illuminate the 10,080 Czech crystals. It draws attention and sheds light upon all who walk through the rotunda.
The purpose of Capitol Commission is to draw attention to Christ and shed the light of God’s Word and the gospel to all those who walk those grand halls. We are still overwhelmed by the open doors to share Bible studies and distribute the study notes to the legislators, elected officials, lobbyists, and staff who serve in the statehouse. This week’s study is on Jesus’ claim, “I Am the Light of the World”.
Pray that the light of Christ and the gospel is indeed shining brightly in the capitol this week.
