    Our Unimpeachable Savior

We cannot help but be caught up with all the recent events surrounding our West Virginia Supreme Court. The breaking of the story regarding the spending and other activities of the justices. The federal case involving one of the judges. The impeachment proceedings and debates in the House of Delegates. All these are certainly riveting our attention.

We all have varied responses to these events. Anger. Disappointment. Political considerations. Anxiety regarding what the possible fallout might be. In the midst of all the turmoil at the statehouse it will do us well to consider the biblical or spiritual lessons we might glean from these events. Pondering the issue of impeachment can point us to some of the grandest gospel truths found in God’s Word. This can give us joy and assurance even in the middle of such challenging events in the capitol!

This is the topic of this week's Bible study at the West Virginia state capitol. We do not usually do topical type studies but the events surrounding the impeachment of our Supreme Court justices are so momentous and point us to a gospel message that is so glorious we felt it would be appropriate. We praise and worship our "Unimpeachable Savior" who was impeached on our behalf so that His righteousness and goodness could be credited to us!

Pray that many in the statehouse might recognize they, like all of us, are "impeachable" before our Holy God and deserve to be removed from His presence forever. Pray this will lead them to recognize their need for a Savior and the glorious message of what Christ has done for them.

Pray that believers serving in the capitol will find joy and assurance from this message even in the midst of tumultuous times in our state government. Pray that THIS is the message believers strive to share even in the middle of all the political turmoil.
