Intelligence gathering and espionage are important to any war effort, and this was certainly true during WWII. A vast network of spies from German occupied Europe immensely aided the Allies. German and Axis codes were broken time and again throughout the conflict. All these efforts helped to gain victories in battles and eventually end the war. The purpose of such operations is to learn the size, strength, plans, and movements of the enemy forces. Such information is vital in the fight to stand against and defeat the enemy.

In Ephesians 6:10-20, Paul gives us an “intelligence report” regarding the strength and schemes of our enemy. He also lays out the plans for what we must do to defeat him. In this passage and others, we find that God has given us everything we need to defeat our enemy and experience victory in our lives.

This is the subject of this week's Bible study at the West Virginia capitol as we continue our series on the Christian's warfare in Ephesians 6:10-20. We hold our studies twice each Thursday during the session. Our 8:00 AM study in particular has been well attended. We have a good group excited to meet each week for study, fellowship, and prayer.

Here are some specific request we've been praying for this week:

    • Senator Donna Boley and Delegate Larry Kump were both hospitalized this week.
    • Delegate John Hott's daughter is in training at the West Virginia State Police Academy.
    • Delegate Ruth Rowan's daughter-in-law is dealing with MS.

Please pray for our leaders. As they deal with health and family situations such as these they have the added burdens and challenges of serving in state government.

Pray that our leaders will learn that God in His word has given us all the "intelligence" we need regarding our enemy so that they can defeat his schemes and attacks. Pray they will come to truly know and understand the victory that has already been provided in Christ!
