The Nativity Scene is the Universally Recognized Symbol of Christmas.
The figures of Mary and Joseph with the baby Jesus; the shepherds; the wise men; along with the animals gathered around the manger are seen everywhere at Christmas time. It is a simple, vivid reminder of the real meaning of Christmas.
We should take time to consider what the nativity scene actually portrays. It is when God the Son came to earth and took on human nature in order to live, suffer and die, and rise again for us. This is what the angels proclaimed to the shepherds, “There is born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord”. As we consider the pastoral pictures we have studied in John 10, that scene in the stable, the baby lying in the manger, points to when the Good Shepherd became the Lamb of God!
This is the topic of this week's Bible study at the West Virginia capitol. You can download the complete study HERE.
It has been a tremendous blessing to be back meeting in person at the statehouse. Most of the staff will be off the next two Thursdays so we will not have our studies the rest of the month. However, we will be working to line up details and arrangements for the upcoming legislative session.
Please pray for our preparations for an effective ministry during the 60 day session.
As always, thank you for you interest, support, and prayers for our ministry. We pray you have a blessed Christmas season.
